Amy Winehouse’s Destructive Love Life

Amy Winehouse died of love.

The singer went from having everything... to living a miserable and painful life.

All because of a story known by few.

Who changed Amy’s life completely?

“ You know, it’s that mentality of, you know... I love that boy with dirty hair who rides a motorbike and even if he doesn’t love me back, still lie on the road for him, cause love Him. It’s very “all or nothing”, I like that, you know? I like that mentality.”

The singer met the love of her life in 2004, at a bar. She was an exceptionally talented musician in the beginning of her career while he was a high-school dropout.

The were both in relationship at the time. But the chemistry between them was strong, that they started an inconsistent romance.

Amy and Blake’s love grew stronger and stronger... until they got married in 2007. The tempestuous relationship, full of breakups and reconciliations, was the main source of inspiration behind most of Amy’s famous songs, like “Back to Black “.

“ "Back to Black " is about ... being in a relationship that, when it’s finished, you... when it’s finished, you go back to what you know. And when the guy I was seeing went back to his ex-girlfriend, I didn’t really... i didn’t really ... I didn’t have anything to go back to, so... I guess I went back to a very black few months, you know? “

But the song wasn’t enough to channel her deep pain.

Amy started to mimic Black’s destructive habits, which included serious addiction problems. She would show up in bad shape even in front of the cameras.

Her family got worried.

“ They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said ‘no, no, no.”

Amy believed that doing everything her husband did was the best way to show how much she loved him.

They started to show up in public completely out of their minds.

“ I smashed a bottle and took a chunk out of myself. And i think she just looked to me and out of love, or fear, or whatever it was, or just some f— weird sense of loyalty, just did it to herself. “

Over time, she started to develop eating disorders that deeply impacted her health. Her family intervened and convinced her to try to get back on her feet.

But she ran out of time... in July of 2011, the singer died of alcohol poisoning in her apartment. Her fans were completely devastated.
Blake, who denied being responsible for Amy’s broken state, confessed his guilt after she passed away.

He got her drugs when she was in rehab and constantly controlled her .

“ We love each other intensely and probably in a really unhealthy codependent way. you can’t have a relationship and be a heroin addict, you can’t. it’s not a way to live.”

But with her death, came a glimmer of hope... Her father set up a foundation that helps young people battling addiction.

This way, he tries to avoid that others have the same fate as his daughter .

Mitchell says he’s sure that’s what she would’ve wanted.

Despite her tragic death...
Amy left us a great lesson as part of her legacy:

Recognise the people that harm us ... and stay away from them. Loving someone deeply is not a bad thing, but you must never forget who you are and always put yourself first. Because the most important type of love... is self-love.
